 PUNE - EDUCATION CAPITAL OF MAHARASHTRA

           Pune, also known as Poona, is a city located in the western state of Maharashtra in India. It has a rich history dating back to ancient times.

             In the 8th century AD, the Rashtrakuta dynasty established its capital in the city, which was then known as Punya Vishaya or Punakavishaya. In the 11th century AD, Pune was ruled by the Yadava dynasty, followed by the Bahmani Sultanate and later by the Maratha Empire in the 17th century.

            During the 18th century, Pune was one of the major centers of the Maratha Empire and served as the seat of the Peshwas, who were the prime ministers of the Empire. It was during this time that the city experienced a period of growth and development, with the establishment of significant cultural and academic institutions.

In the early 19th century, the British East India Company took control of Pune and established it as a military outpost. The city remained under British rule until India gained independence in 1947.

                       

        Since then, Pune has emerged as a bustling cosmopolitan city, known for its high-tech industries, educational institutions, and cultural heritage. It continues to grow and develop rapidly, while embracing its rich cultural history.

         Pune is a city located in the western state of Maharashtra, India. It lies approximately 140 km southeast of Mumbai, the state capital, at an average elevation of 560 meters above sea level. Pune is situated on the Deccan plateau, between the Sahyadri range of hills to the west and the Eastern Ghats to the east. The city covers an area of approximately 331 square kilometers.

The Mutha River, a tributary of the Bhima River, flows through the city from the west to the east. The city's main water bodies include Pashan Lake in the west and Khadakwasla and Panshet dams in the south. Pune experiences a tropical wet and dry climate, with distinct monsoons during the months of June to September.

Pune is home to several hills, including the famous Parvati Hill and Vetal Hill, which offer panoramic views of the city. The city is also surrounded by several hill stations such as Lonavala, Khandala, and Mahabaleshwar, which are popular for their scenic beauty and chilly climate.

Pune is known for its rich cultural heritage, including its historical forts, palaces and temples, as well as its modern infrastructure and booming IT sector. The city is also a hub for education, with several prestigious institutes of higher learning located here.
